44th National Day, Dubai/UAE
Overview:
A part of Dubai Creek in the Design District of the Arabian metropolis was the scene of this year’s celebrations. Thanks to a finely attuned light design, we succeeded in seamlessly integrating the 120 x 50 metre show area into the breath-taking scenery. The audience followed the 45-minute show in and on the water from a 100-metre-wide grandstand with a view of the Burj Kalifa. We protected our equipment against the moisture – above all the lights – with so-called “air domes”. The show not only featured the typical dhows but also LED-adorned flyboards powered by jet ski, a total of 400 international artists as well as a herd of thoroughbred horses galloping over a stage installed under the surface of the water, thus giving the appearance that they were running over the water.
An audience of over 4,000 witnessed the impressive images, which we projected with Barco HDQ-2K40 projectors and 40,000 ANSI lumens onto three curtains of water. We calculated other parts of the production using 3D pixel mapping for the display on the 12 x 15 metre elements to the left and right of the main screen. For this we used Panasonic PTDZ21 projectors combined to form tandems each with 20,000 ANSI lumens and supplied with content by Watchout 6.0 media Servers.
