To expand the fitness and entertainment offering at Expo 2020 Dubai, a multipurpose Sports Arena was introduced in January 2022. The venue hosted a diverse programme of sporting activities over three months, including football, tennis, aerial gymnastics, boxing, group workouts, yoga, and the final FIBA 3×3 Basketball competition.
Designed to accommodate multiple disciplines, the arena required a flexible and reliable technical setup capable of supporting both live audiences and broadcast requirements.

BeWunder delivered the technical systems for the Sports Arena at EXPO 2020, including audio, video, lighting, rigging, and intercom and communication systems across the venue.
The scope covered the installation and coordination of these systems to support a continuously changing programme of sporting disciplines, each with different technical and operational requirements. Particular focus was placed on ensuring consistent lighting performance across the field to meet broadcast standards, as well as reliable audio and communication systems to support live event operations.
Through structured project management, including programme coordination and stakeholder alignment, all systems were delivered and operated as a cohesive setup, enabling smooth transitions between events and maintaining consistent performance throughout the full duration of the programme.
