Overview:

Over 600 delegates from all over the world gathered at EXPO 2020’s third International Participants Meeting (IPM) to receive progress updates regarding the construction of the EXPO site itself and of their national pavilions as well as to hear about planned measures. The theme of the world exhibition, which took place in Dubai from October 2020 to April 2021, is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. The IPM is an opportunity for representatives of EXPO 2020 Dubai, of the government of the United Arab Emirates and of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) to discuss with countries and organisations participating in EXPO 2020 – the largest event that has ever been held in the Arab world.

The “Global Best Practice Programme” for sustainable development was presented at the meeting. A dedicated Best Practice pavilion on the EXPO 2020 site will highlight international projects and tried and tested initiatives that can be replicated, adapted and scaled worldwide. The idea of these measures is to make a great impact with simple means and thus contribute to the realisation of the United Nations’ plan of action entitled “Agenda 2030 for sustainable development”.

In his opening address Vicente G. Loscertales, the Secretary General of the BIE, emphasised that it was important for all EXPO participants to become involved and explained: “Our hosts have successfully laid the foundations of this adventure and it is now time for participants to play a dynamic and constructive role in developing the EXPO.”

Scope:

BeWunder provided the entire lighting, audio and video scope, including rigging, for all areas of the meeting. This included a specially developed rigging unit, which had to be installed as high as possible in a relatively low room, to ensure an unobstructed view of the screen from everywhere in the room for the large number of participants.
