Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre
One of the biggest performance venues at Expo 2020 is Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre, which is intentionally located in the Culture Spine, Al Forsan Park. The area is dedicated to celebrating diversified cultures that are being represented at the exhibition. It will honour the cultures of the world—past, present, and future— through theatrical performances, arts and traditional stories in the form of different types of shows. The performance venue is idyllic for various kinds of performances, like dance, opera, music, theatre, comedy, etc.
The amphitheatre is comprised of ground and the first floor with compounds. Apart from a large onstage performance area, the amphitheatre surprises with an astonishing custom-designed arch roof structure, showing intertwined Ghaf trees.
Production Lighting
The Amphitheatre is designed explicitly for drama, dance, spoken word, and cultural performances. Therefore, its lighting design integrates a control system that can adjust to a varied program. In addition, for maximum flexibility, a large floor package is available onstage, installed on several mobile structures to ensure that every component of stage performance is well balanced and enhanced to create an exact mood.
In order to provide pre-programming capabilities, an on-site MA Lighting WYSIWYG Studio, filled with the house system lighting plots, is provided.
Production Audio
The audio design encompasses an Immersive hyperreal frontal L’Acoustics L-ISA 5.1 PA System plus control, wireless, and stage packages catering in agreement with the requirements of all international visiting productions. Industry-leading products, like L-Acoustics, Shure and DiGiCo, combined as a system supply all the required components to support a high-profile venue like Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre.
For incoming tour production, rider-specific uplifts are provided as per the artist’s requirements.
Jubilee Stage
Located within Jubilee Park, Jubilee Stage is preliminarily designed for youth and families as it accommodates green spaces to relax in, sit and listen to music. This open-air festival stage is the largest performance venue at the Expo 2020 site. Compared with Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre, Jubilee Stage is focused on shows that encourage people to sing along, dance and jump up and down in excitement. In addition, the area introduces different concerts, music festivals, films, exciting performances, and much more.
Jubilee Stage is an arch-shaped space roof structure with a sizeable onstage performance area. It is supported visually with two IMAG screens located downstage left and right. Offstage technical areas are available on both sides of the stage. The downstage edge has a short thrust, with the flexibility of being extended to accommodate a wide range of performance types.
Production Lighting
The performance venue is a versatile festival stage equipped with an extensive and multipurpose house lighting design. The design integrates a combination of static fixtures and industry-standard moving heads with a control system that can accommodate international visiting productions. Additionally, it has the flexibility of being enhanced by additional equipment packages.
The area includes an MA Lighting WYSIWYG system, filled with the house system lighting plots, which provides pre-programming capability from a GrandMa lighting desk.
Production Audio
Jubilee Stage is equipped with an internationally recognized product specification for the loudspeaker arrays, control, wireless and stage packages. The audio system uses industry-leading brands such as L-Acoustics, DiGiCo and Shure. The stage’s standard in-house system design is centred on a large-scale festival or concert venue.
For incoming tour production, rider-specific uplifts are provided as per the artist’s requirements.
The Sustainability District Earth Stage
The main concept and idea of The Sustainability District is a natural world with an emphasis on earth. The message of “what we take from the earth and what we give back” raises the importance of sustainable development for humankind.
The idea of the concept is not to burden people with the current world problems but to educate, incite a sense of curiosity, fun, and wonder.
The Sustainability District Earth Stage is an oval-shaped performance area, which includes multiple wooden glulam fins to the rear of the stage. Each fin is tailored and has a machined groove to house a single-pixel controlled LED light strip down the centre of the extrusion that pours through onto the stage performance space.
The audio and light systems utilize the best industry equipment, such as GrandMA3 and Wireless DMX for light and audio gear from high-quality brands like Shure, L’Acoustics, Yamaha, etc.
The Mobility Sea Stage
The inspiration for the Mobility District is the sea, waves, energy, speed and motion. The symbol represents movement through the history and trade of the UAE as a connecting point, the exchange of culture, and new faster connections through the digital world.
