Overview:

“The Edge of Government” was a temporary exhibition held during the annual World Government Summit in Dubai, which was attended by about 4,000 participants. The summit attracted leaders and experts from over 150 countries around the world. Once again discussions focused on innovative services for citizens and corresponding future technologies.

Upon entering the exhibition, visitors were challenged to think in new and often counter-intuitive ways about how the most pressing global challenges of our time can be solved. Innovations from over 500 submissions were presented that both informed and offered interactive experiences to stimulate different ways of thinking. One main aim of the event was to give visitors the opportunity to come into contact with inventive minds.

The exhibition’s setting looked like an outer space scenery, with creative sound and lighting elements helping to create a special atmosphere. Abstract lighting elements in various colours were projected onto the floor and ceiling. These particles were connected to motion detectors and programmed in such a way as to move away as soon as someone stepped on them. Furthermore, interactive, virtual rooms where created in the exhibition where visitors could try out various innovations.

Scope

BeWunder was brought in for the technical planning and implementation of this state-of-the-art project, along with the audio, video, lighting and rigging systems. For the sound, we selected a premium audio network and installed the loudspeakers at precisely selected points, to create a volume suitable to the surroundings and to acoustically balance the coverage all over the venue. We equipped all areas of the exhibition with video displays and projectors controlled by a Watchout media server system.
