The Baden-Württemberg Pavilion at EXPO 2020, presented as the House of Baden-Württemberg, introduced the German state as a centre of innovation, sustainability and collaboration between science, business and civil society. Home to major companies such as SAP, Bosch, Porsche and Daimler, Baden-Württemberg used the pavilion to show how technological progress, research and entrepreneurship can work together with a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.
Built around the theme “Co-creation of Innovation”, the exhibition highlighted the importance of connection and exchange. Visitors were guided through spaces exploring quality of life, sustainability, culture and innovation, before reaching interactive areas that presented initiatives, projects and ideas shaping the future. The pavilion combined storytelling, design and technical elements to communicate a clear and carefully structured narrative.

BeWunder delivered the audio, video and lighting systems across the pavilion, supporting the technical realisation of the exhibition environments and overall visitor journey.
A key element of the scope was the development and installation of 43 custom-made lighting fixtures designed to achieve specific visual effects within the central exhibition space. These fixtures were created to meet detailed design requirements and became a defining feature of the pavilion.
The project also included precise video projection onto a double-floor wooden outline of Baden-Württemberg. Due to the complexity of the surface, extensive simulations were required to ensure accurate image alignment and visual consistency.
The delivery required careful technical planning and coordination to ensure that all systems operated seamlessly and supported the intended exhibition concept.
